Hi there! I am Adrian.
Over the past 20+ years, I have coached dozens of individuals from all areas of business. Many of those I have coached have grown professionally, advancing from junior to senior roles, from individual contributors to managers, and gone on to have highly successful careers.
My passion for coaching others has deep roots. Coaching has always been an integral part of my life, both professionally and personally.
It all started when I worked as a camp counselor for children with social difficulties. This experience taught me the value of patience, empathy, and understanding when it comes to working with people who face unique challenges. I realized how important it is to approach coaching in a way that is tailored to the individual needs of each person. This lesson was further reinforced when I became a coach of the Finnish Ultimate Frisbee junior national team. Coaching a team requires a lot of dedication, patience, and hard work. It was a great learning experience that demonstrated how important communication, trust, and teamwork are.
I learned that being a coach means more than just teaching people how to play a game. It's about instilling confidence, encouraging personal growth, and developing life skills that go beyond the field.
During my time at the university, I had the opportunity to mentor and coach students working toward their master's degrees. Helping them achieve their goals was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I was able to use my knowledge and experience to guide them through the academic process and provide them with the support they needed to succeed. Coaching in this context taught me that the most effective coaching is based on mutual respect, open communication, and a willingness to learn and grow together.
Throughout my career, coaching and mentoring have always been a high priority. I believe that every person has the potential for greatness, and as a coach, it is my job to help them reach their full potential. I've always approached coaching with a humble attitude, knowing that I have just as much to learn from my clients as they do from me.
In my various workplaces, I've made it a point to prioritize mentoring and coaching. I've seen firsthand how effective coaching can be in helping individuals and teams achieve their goals. Whether it's developing skills, building confidence, or overcoming obstacles, coaching can be a powerful tool for personal and professional growth.
I hold multiple certifications related to coaching. Most notably, I completed a certification in Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, led by the renowned psychologist Dr. Martin E.P. Seligman. Positive Psychology focuses on human strengths and virtues that enable individuals and communities to thrive, and this knowledge is invaluable for empowering and coaching clients.
To further serve my passion for coaching, I earned a certification in Coaching Skills for Managers from the University of California. This program was led by the accomplished coach Kris Plachy and equipped me with practical coaching techniques to improve communication, motivation, and performance in both professional and personal contexts.
As an avid reader, I continuously seek out books and new research to expand my coaching knowledge and skills. For example, I closely follow developments in cognitive science and neuroscience that offer insights into motivation, habit formation, and behavior change. Some influential books I've read in these areas include Neuroscience for Coaches by Amy Brann and Make It Stick by Peter Brown. Additionally, I read books on emotional intelligence like Daniel Goleman's Focus and Social Intelligence to deepen my capacity for empathy and relating skillfully with clients. I also enjoy reading positive psychology books like Angela Duckworth's Grit and Carol Dweck's Mindset to enhance my strengths-based, growth-oriented approach to coaching. Across these diverse fields of science, psychology and personal development, I synthesize key learnings into my ever-evolving coaching practice. My dedication to continual reading and learning allows me to incorporate the latest research and help clients reach their full potential.
